Webstudio New Features: A Tier List Exploration

I'm genuinely curious which new Webstudio features people think should be prioritized

So I made a tier list 😅 . Here's mine (image)

feel free to share yours: https://tiermaker.com/create/webstudio-new-features-18231987

AI is based on html paste so win-win
AI assistance in api setup would drive better api UI as well
So consider more AI tooling would benefit UI as well
People want more templates, this has been crazy demanded. AI replaces the need to have a huge amount of templates to choose from. Looking from that perspective, does it change your prioritization?
I don't believe AI will solve the problem with templates. If this would be the quality like in Webflow than awesome)
In my opinion, not really.

It depends on the use case, and usually a template falls into these two categories:

  1. Getting a high-quality website fast
This is the most common case—either for small business owners who don’t want to spend too much time building their site, or for designers and developers who want a solid starting point to customize or reuse parts.

In this scenario, AI-generated UIs can help, if the output quality is high. But ironically, the current lack of templates might actually be a good thing—it creates demand and incentive for the community to step in. That’s a positive dynamic for the Webstudio ecosystem. I say this as someone who’s personally motivated to build templates and components.

  1. Simplifying complex technical setups
This applies mostly to CMS setups today, but I’ve also seen strong demand around things like authentication. These are tricky enough that AI alone probably won’t cut it.

In these cases, the Webstudio team—not AI—can be much more helpful by providing official templates, integrations, or step-by-step tutorials. For example, there’s already a basic Supabase setup, but it doesn’t go far enough for more advanced or real-world needs. More robust, plug-and-play solutions would be extremely valuable.

One specific example I keep seeing—and personally care about—is auth + payments for gated content. This is especially relevant because Webstudio’s pricing is very appealing to solo makers, and having a ready-to-go solution for something like “sign in, pay, and unlock access” would be a huge win. Not only would it solve a real problem, but it could also become a standout feature that attracts even more builders to the platform.

Without extending too much here, the picks I chose for Highest Priority are indispensable in general in multiple cases, whether it's for personal projects or client work
Your point 1 confirms the importance of AI to get people started without templates
Functional templates is a separate thing, I meant mostly design
It's not about whether it's important, but how important it is compared to everything else on the tier list. In my opinion, other features have higher priority.
If you are a capable designer and can design/build from scratch then it's obviously not a priority for you. People who demanded templates are either devs or indie hackers or maybe even designers who don't have the time/need to build from scratch
priority changes depdending on who you are, its not absolute
Can't find some features in the link, but here is my list (from high prio to low prio, didn't put features in-progress), not only personal but what I think could boost WS adoption: AI v2, shopify integration, native localization solution, css grid, tokens manager, component editor, versioning, unpublish site, collaboration, apps marketplace
from increasing adoption standpoint I have a similar feeling for the order
component editor might be higher, because it's blocking other features
very much aligned with this
CSS Grid 😰
CSS grid might get higher priority if it proves to be useful for GenAI
Also strange that you started on animations and not finished it
We made most popular type of animations possible - scroll driven
we can spend 6 month making all sort of animations possible, is that what you want?
No, just on your roadmap it is still in progress and I hope you not decided that it's finished
there are some enhancements I want to do
Also, custom code is Paste HTML feature?
I mean in webflow you can use custom code, not just html embed. Is HTML paste solves this? I am not very technical, sorry
I still don't know what you mean by custom code in webflow
I would answer your quesiton, but I don't understand it
dropping in here again

I want to clarify what I meant by "Complete" Animation Engine. I mentioned this a couple of times before, but Webstudio currently does not have a good solution for responsive elements without using code.

Let's take a navbar, for example. Or you duplicate the navbar content for desktop and mobile, trying to leverage Radix components, or you use code. We should be able to make a simple navbar with no code and no duplicated content. This is so fundamental, and that's why I mainly put the Animation Engine in Highest Priority
This is from a marketer solopreneur's point of view (if I had a team, collaboration would be higher, of course).

I would like to be able to ship fast and well-made website (with good SEO, accessibility, and performance) from different data sources for my customers. So, AI, of course, to test ideas, learn, try, build, or just for inspiration. CMS, API UI for data. Tokens and versioning to manage code. The others are nice to go deeper and have more control, but my goal is to sell websites, not win an awwward, so less important for me.
building awwward level websites might help to get your name out there if ou are looking for clients 😉
@Oleg Isonen regarding custom code, remember I asked about magic ui in ws? You said you currently not support it yet and custom code will solve this.
Sure, and my developer side is really amazed by the websites you can find on Awwwards, but my customers don't care about this. "Creative website doesn't sell," and it's true most of the time (but if I was dev, this is the kind of stuff I could like to do for sure!)
Sure, and my developer side is really amazed by the websites you can find on Awwwards, but my customers don't care about this.

I don't think this is the pure designer/developer masturbation type of thing. You might just have different types of customers. There are some companies that need conversion, there are others that need brand awareness. They are not always the same thing
"Creative website doesn't sell," and it's true most of the time

I thought so too, but you are being wronged by the old SEO crowd.
You probably haven't met the right clients and haven't positioned yourself to get those clients that want amazing brand, not direct conversion thing
I agree, but I think if I wanted to show my skills as a designer or developer, I would definitely go this way. These developers and designers are so good. I love to see their work. It can be good for marketing, yes, especially with the storytelling (some websites offer a fantastic "experience"), but in general, for my niche (local businesses), this is not the way. I don't need the wow effect, just a clear and practical website with basic storytelling and a clear CTA. No scroll video, mouse-catching horizontal elements, amazing mouse effects, and other parallax and sound experiences.
Oh and it's also about money ofc
Even your local businesses are different, you are just picking a type.
Find a local business building boats - here we go, brand more important than directly traceable conversion
conversion will be there, but its not traceable because offline after brand was discovered
I totally agree, but i'm more in a packaged and duplicable service for now
