Technical To-Do List for Site Improvement

At a glance

The community member is using an SEO audit tool called SiteGuru and has identified two issues with their Webstudio-created sites: optimizing canonical URLs and addressing trailing slashes that may cause duplicate content. For the canonical URL issue, there is an existing GitHub issue that the community member believes is relevant. The community member is seeking a workaround for setting canonicals while the issue is resolved.

Regarding the trailing slashes, the community member provides examples of how the same content can be accessed with and without a trailing slash, and this issue appears to be present across their Webstudio sites as well as the Webstudio site itself. The community members discuss that this is a serious SEO issue that needs to be addressed. One community member suggests that a redirect should be set up automatically to handle the trailing slashes.

The community members continue to discuss the issues, with one community member noting that the canonical URL issue has been resolved using the new Head Slot feature in Webstudio. However, there is no explicitly marked answer for the trailing slashes issue, and the community members are still seeking an update from the Webstudio team on addressing this problem.

Useful resources
I'm using an app called SiteGuru to get a full SEO audit on my sites. All my sites created in Webstudio have two issues:
1) Optimize Canonical URLs
2) Trailing slashes may cause duplicate content

For the canonical, I believe there is an issue created here https://github.com/webstudio-is/webstudio/issues/3501

Is there a workaround for setting canonicals while the issue is resolved?

As for the trailing slashes, how can I fix it in Webstudio?

Trailing slashes are only an issue when the same content can also get reached without a slash. Is this the case?

mysite.com/mypage/
mysite.com/mypage
@Luis where do you have duplicate content and where the original?
Here is an example of one of my sites:
https://huskytrainers.com/contact
https://huskytrainers.com/contact/

I can access both links. This happens in all the WebStudio pages and the dynamic pages from CMS. It occurs in all my sites. I also see it appears on the Webstudio site too:

These are the recommendations from Siteguru

Ok so your both points are about the same problem with slashes? You made it sound as 2 separate problems
That's a serious SEO issue. It should get fixed asap.
The canonical URL is still an issue, as mentioned by @John Siciliano here https://github.com/webstudio-is/webstudio/issues/3501
Yes,that's why I asked where is your canical need exactly, but you seem to mean the slash problem
slash problem has nothing to do with canonical
we need to set a redirect automatically for traling slashes
Hi @Oleg Isonen. Is there an update on the "Trailing slashes"? The Siteguru app says the issue is still present on my Webstudio sites. Thanks!
hi, we havn't worked on it yet, lets create an issue for starters
I wouldn't be too worried, real bots are smart enough to ignore tht
only seo tools are stupid and complain
Hi @Oleg Isonen . I fixed the Optimize Canonical URL issue with the new Head Slot (https://docs.webstudio.is/university/core-components/head-slot). Great job on the head slot. It is so easy to use.

Do we have any updates on the trailing slashes issue?
Do we have an update on the trailing slashes issue @Oleg Isonen?
